Generic Zombie Shooter - Redux v1.2

This release was focused on adding new content to the game. Specifically, several new enemies and weapons have been added to the game to give the player more to experience. However, the difficulty has been increased dramatically, so prepare yourself. Here is the list of changes for GZSR v1.2.

  • New Enemies! - Several new enemies have been added to the game.
    •  Starfright - He's quite fast, and if he catches up to you, he'll explode in a flash of light, blinding and deafening you for several seconds.
    • El Salvo - Another enemy it would be wise to aim for first. Let him get to close and he'll explode, taking you with him. His explosion deals a massive amount of damage -- enough to kill the player outright if they have not invested points into the Health skill.
    • The Prowler - Crawling out from the darkness, this vampire-like zombie will lunge at you if he gets within range. If he hits you, you'll be pinned / paralyzed for several seconds while he, and any other enemies nearby, beat the crap out of you.
  • New Weapons! - There are a total of 12 new weapons to play around with, including brand new melee weapons (useable with Right-Click). The player won't be able to carry all of them. Choose wisely.
    • Machete - The player's starting melee weapon. Doesn't do a lot of damage, and will only hit one target, but it can get you out of a bind.
    • Bastard Sword - A much more damaging weapon capable of hitting multiple enemies in a single swing. This will devastate large clusters of weak enemies.
    • Secret Weapon - What would a game be without some secrets? Reach a high enough level to unlock the secret melee weapon.
    • AWP - The noob cannon, as some may call it. This powerful Sniper rifle can go right through your target and hit two more enemies behind it.
    • Crossbow - Prefer not to charge your shots? Pick up the Crossbow and send a few bolts into some zombie heads.
    • MP5 - Looking for a cheaper alternative to the AK-47? This submachine gun has a higher rate of fire than the AK-47 and more ammo to boot!
    • Molotov - Although added, this weapon will not be available to purchase in this version of the game. It will be available to craft once the crafting system is implemented.
    • Nail Gun - Available right away, this cheap piece of hardware doesn't do much damage, but can hold a lot of ammo.
    • Remington 783 - This popular hunting rifle is the cheaper alternative to the AWP. It doesn't penetrate a far as the AWP, but can still hit the enemy behind your target.
    • Smith & Wesson Model 500 - This powerful Revolver can be gotten early on and will dig right through your first target and hit the one behind. The only drawback is a small clip of ammo.
    • FIM-92 Stinger - This missile launcher is more expensive than any other weapon in the game, but is well worth it. Group those enemies up and take them all out at once.
    • Taser - Because why not? Stop the enemy in their tracks long enough for you to escape. Does not work on bosses.
  • Level-Restricted Weapons - The player must now reach a certain level to unlock each weapon in the game. The Beretta and Machete are given to the player to start with, and the Nail Gun is available in the shop by default. All other weapons must be unlocked by leveling up.
  • Weapon / Ammo Prices - All weapons and ammo prices have been updated to closely match real-world prices. Enemy money drop rates have been modified to match these new prices. This is a work-in-progress, so if you feel that the drop rates are too low or prices too high, or even that certain weapons appear earlier or later than they should in the shop, either open an issue or contact me.
  • Deadlier Bosses - The bosses were far too easy to just strafe around and shoot at from afar before. Now they have been given some alternate tactics to keep the player on their toes. See if you can figure out what's new.
  • Enemy Attacks - Enemies no longer deal constant damage simply by touching you. A few of the enemies have been given attack animations and will attack periodically when within range. The damage is d20-based and is rolled each time.
  • Status Immunities - Certain enemies now have immunities to specific damage types and status effects. Any effect that an enemy has immunity to will cause the text "Resisted!" to appear above their heads.
  • New Status Effects - Several new status effects have been added to the game for new weapons and enemy attacks.
  • Boss Health Bar - Ever wonder how close you're getting to defeating the boss? Well now there is a health bar for the bosses, too!
  • Various Other Tweaks - I've fixed several issues with the display over the previous version. Namely, the "ammo warning" messages are now more descriptive instead of just saying "Out of Ammo". Items will now display a message telling the player what they are when they are collected.
  • Known Issues - There is one known issue with this release (and the previous one) where after killing the last enemy in a wave, the game will not properly transition to the break period, leaving you stuck. If this occurs, please open the console by pressing ~ and type "/ec" and then open an issue with or email me the output.

Please enjoy the game!
